Team Building Day at Liquid Leisure

The Riverside team are used to getting splashed during water play, but they decided to switch it up a gear by holding their team building day at Liquid Leisure, Windsor.

For any of you don’t know, Liquid Leisure is the world’s largest water park bursting with water related activities. It offers everything from paddle boarding and banana boating to water obstacle courses.

Always up for a challenge, our girls decided to cross the park’s new Aqua Jungle, a large inflatable obstacle course which you must climb, swing or jump across or else land in the water.

Nikita, Nursery Manager, said; “It was such good fun, we really enjoyed it, and yes there were a few soggy bottoms at the end!”

 1.Teach your child to ride their bicycle

Top Tips – How to Stay Water Safe this Summer!

May is National Water Safety month, there are countless tips to keep children safe in and around water but here is a selection of top tips you may or may not have considered:

  1. Don’t assume a child that can swim is not at risk of drowning, always be vigilant
  2. If a child is missing check the water first as seconds count
  3. Never swim during a thunderstorm, exit the water immediately
  4. Always go down feet first on water slides
  5. Empty blow-up paddling pools after each use
  6. Nine feet is the minimum depth required for jumping or diving into water

With school half-term here it is the perfect time to take little ones swimming or kick start some lessons at the local pool.

October Occasions!

Dear Parents,

So here we are, speeding towards Christmas at a rate of knots! Only seven more weeks until Christmas day is upon us! The children are starting to get very excited about the festivities, chattering about Father Christmas and dreaming of a sprinkling of snow. Before we hang up our stockings, here is what is coming up:

Children in Need Week, starting Monday 12th November

Next week we will be supporting Children in Need by holding an array of different dress up days and activities at the nursery. Monday is a Super Hero theme, Tuesday is PJ Day (onesies welcome of course!), Wednesday will be less dressing up and more ‘eating up’, as we are holding a yummy cake sale in the foyer. If you would like to donate homemade cakes or biscuits to the sale, they would be greatly appreciated. Please bring them along on Wednesday morning and we will try to sell them not eat them! Thursday is Yellow dress up day to keep Pudsey company. Finally, the week culminates on Friday with ‘Gunge Day’. Knowing how much the children love all things gooey and slimy, we are offering them the chance to gunge a member of the Riverside team. On Friday the children will cast their votes and the member of staff with the most votes will receive the gunge treatment. Honestly, we can hardly wait!

On another charity note, we are continuing to raise money for the Thames Hospice. To support this amazing charity there is a donation box in the nursery office if you have any spare change.

‘Stay and Play’ starting January 2019

Exciting news! In January we are launching our new parent ‘stay and play’ sessions. These sessions are a fantastic way to see what your little one gets up to every day and what they enjoy in the nursery environment. Sessions will take place on a specific day of the week on a monthly basis to give as many of you as possible the chance to sign up and join in. In January the ‘stay and play’ sessions will take place on a Tuesday, lasting up to an hour. If you would like to join us, please book a place with Nikita when you are next in.

Top Tips for Halloween Fun!

Halloween is coming…

With half term and Halloween just around the corner, here are some spooky family activities on offer around Windsor this month.

Windsor Royal Shopping’s Annual Halloween Pumpkin Party!

Take part in the pumpkin carving competition and carve your very own pumpkin head, free of charge! There is also a Halloween fancy dress competition and entertainment by Mr Marvel. Fancy dress and pumpkin judging will commence at 3:30pm. This event is free, and no booking is required. You can find out more here:

Halloween Trail at The Oakley Court, Windsor Road 

Friday 26th October – Wednesday 31st October 

Children staying at the Oakley hotel or going along to dinner with parents during the half-term weekend will be able to take part in a Halloween Trail! Halloween letters will be left around the hotel for children to find and piece together to form a mystery word. Prizes are on offer for those that find all the clues and guess the word correctly. Build-a-Bat Box Workshop and Bug Encounters!

Beale Park Wildlife Park and Gardens has lots on for families this half-term. From 10.30am until midday, children can take part in a Build-a-Bat Box workshop (it costs £5 per child), which they can take home when they’ve finished. They can also meet the bugs of Beale Park from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, where they can get up close-up to creepy crawlies from the Park’s Bertie’s Bugs and Beasts exhibit.
