Nursery Team Turn ‘Task Masters’

In January, our talented nursery team had their annual team building event in nearby Ascot.

Always imaginative, always fun, this year’s event was called ‘Task Master’.

The team had to work collaboratively, think creatively, and – most importantly – laugh, a lot.

Divided into teams, staff competed in a variety of lateral-thinking challenges presented in sealed gold envelopes.

Tasks ranged from the ‘blindfolded balloon’ where blindfolded members of the team competed to blow up the biggest balloon without it exploding, to building the tallest tower they could out of marshmallows and spaghetti.

Amber, Maddi, Jess, Tianna and Ceriane’s team won the overall prize of a bottle of champagne and £100 voucher.

Thank you everyone for being such great sports, you were fabulous as ever!

Bumper Baby News

The stork has been busy delivering a bountiful number of bouncing babies.

Many congratulations to Charlotte B on the birth of baby boy, Ralphy, Sophie on the arrival of Arabella, and Jemma on the arrival of baby Nia. We hope you are doing well and enjoying time with your little bundles.

Also, congratulations and all best wishes to Jess who will start maternity leave in June.

Finally, a big welcome back to Maddi M, Elle, and Grace who have returned from maternity leave.

Exam Successes

Congratulations to Aysha, Daria, Ellie and Tilly who have successfully completed their Level 3 Diplomas in Childcare for the Early Years Educator.

This qualification means amongst other things; they can be a ‘key person’ for the children and be counted in adult-to-child ratios in the nursery. Well done everyone!

Congratulations to all our new mums and mums-to-be, including, Jemma, our Deputy Manager!

Baby Fever!

What can we say but the stork has been super busy at Riverside Day Nursery with lots of sweet new arrivals and bumps-to-be!

Congratulations to Grace in the Older Babies’ room, who gave birth to a baby girl, Lyla, in April. Also, to Maddi in the Pre-school room, who welcomed a baby boy, Albie, in April, and Elle in the Older Babies’ room, who had a baby boy, Sonny, in July.

Congratulations to Jemma, our Deputy Manager and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), who is expecting her first baby later this year. Jemma has been with us for 10 years and will start her maternity leave in November. Wishing you the best of luck, Jemma – we can’t wait to meet your little bundle!

Also expecting babies are Charlotte in the Toddler room, who will welcome baby number seven in March, and Charlotte in the Older Babies’ room, who will welcome her first baby in December. Congratulations, mums-to-be!

Finally, welcome back to Abbie from the Toddler room, and Emma, our Pre-school Team Leader, from maternity leave. It’s lovely to see you both.

Training Triumph

Congratulations and extra sparkly gold stars for our talented team members – Georgi, Tilly, Aysha, Daria, Ellie, Lashay, and Tianna – who gained their NVQ Diploma Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification.

Also, a big well done to the 12 staff who completed their first aid certification in September. This means that every one of our nursery team is now a trained first aider.

Staffs’ Training Triumph

It isn’t just the children who learn and grow at the Riverside Day Nursery, our staff undergo important training too.

13 staff successfully completed their Early Years Professional Development Programme (EYPDP), a national professional development initiative which aims to support nursery-age children.

Nikita, the Riverside Day Nursery Manager, said:

“All our staff hold nationally recognised qualifications, but EYPDP helps build on this knowledge by developing skills in key areas, such as communication and language, early maths, and personal and social development.

“It basically means, we are the best we can be, helping lay the best possible foundation for our children’s learning and ensuring they are ready to settle in and thrive when they start school.”

The programme took approximately eight months to complete and involved staff committing to more than 60 hours of online e-learning in their own time.

Nikita adds: “We’re so proud of our team and the hard work they’ve put in – it’s not easy finding time after a full day – but they did it. Thank you and well done!”

Additionally, 12 staff completed first-aid training in August. A vital part of any nursery setting, up to date first-aid training means we have the skills to respond effectively and quickly to accidents and emergencies.

Nursery Team News – Babies on the way!

Abbie CP, who works in our Toddler room, starts maternity leave at the end of July. Abbie is having her second baby girl.

Emma, our Older Babies’ Room Team Leader, begins maternity leave at the end of August. This joyful bundle – a baby girl- will be Emma’s fourth little one.

Huge congratulations Abbie and Emma. We can’t wait to see the pictures!
