At the Riverside Day Nursery, Windsor we run a variety of extra-curricular activities to broaden the children’s skills and help them find and nurture new talents.
One of the classes we offer is Twinkle Tots Dance, a ballet class for pre-schoolers. Twinkle Tots have been coming to the Riverside Day nursery for over ten years. The ballet classes are for children age two and up and take place on a Thursday morning with qualified dance teacher, Miss Aimee.
Twinkle Tots was established in 2006 by professional ballerina and Royal Academy of Dance teacher, Maggie Purr, who has always been passionate about bringing the magic of dance to young people.
Maggie says: “All our classes are imagination-based, using fun stories, props, illustrations and classical music specially arranged for pre-school age children. The classes gradually introduce the children to the fundamentals of ballet technique, helping develop co-ordination, good posture, strength and suppleness.”
Ballet is also ideal for encouraging self-discipline, musicality, self-expression and spatial awareness. The classes also help support the children’s listening skills, instruction following and how to work on their own and with others.
Twinkle Tots Dance classes started with five children in Windsor and has grown to almost two hundred pupils across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire Surrey, Lincolnshire and Rutland.

Also, if your child would like to take more ballet classes a week or would like to continue their ballet once they start school, Twinkle Tots also run Saturday classes at Clewer Youth and Community Centre, Parsonage Lane in Windsor where they offer RAD ballet examination classes for children age four and over. The Riverside Nursery Team have a ball in Bath!
Earlier this month the team visited Bath for a well deserved Christmas night out and to hear the announcement of the winners of our glittering annual staff awards. The team partied at Komedia, a great live comedy venue, so there was plenty of laughter and later some very impressive dancing!
Winners of our annual staff awards were Amie Pearce and Jemma Gleave, who won Outstanding Contribution awards for all the hard work they have put in during the year. While the winner of our People’s Person award, as voted for by staff, was Nikita, our all star nursery manager.
Well done to all the winners and all the Riverside team, you do a fabulous job and we hope you all have a fantastic Christmas break!

While we’re on the subject of awards, our latest Employee of the Month award goes to nursery practitioner, Jasmine.
Emma Summersgill, owner of the Riverside Day Nursery, said: “Jasmine works in our busy pre-school room. She is extremely creative and never fails to go the extra mile with her imaginative artwork displays. The children always love arts and crafts activities with Jasmine and often ask what she has planned next for them. Thank you for all your hard work Jasmine.”
Jasmine will receive £50 to treat herself to something special.

Some important upcoming dates for your diary:
Children’s Christmas Concert – 2.30pm Friday 14th December 2018 – Come and hear the children sing their favourite Christmas songs. A wonderful way to get into the festive spirit.
Children’s Christmas Lunch and Christmas Party – Wednesday 19th December 2018 – Children only, sorry! Lots of fun, food and party games for our little ones to enjoy.
Nursery Christmas Closing – The nursery will close for the Christmas period on Christmas Eve, Monday 24th December at 1pm and re-open at the normal time on Wednesday 2nd January 2019.
Christmas Reminder – Please let us know when your child’s/children’s last day in nursery will be, as we have a special Christmas goodie bag for you all that they have made. You won’t want to miss it!
