The Three Little Pigs

Babies and toddlers learn about the fab traditional tale, The Three Little Pigs.

Fairy tales are great for boosting little ones’ imaginations and over the past few weeks we’ve been looking at the story of The Three Little Pigs.

As well as reading the story to the babies and toddlers daily, they’ve carried out lots of ‘Little Pig’ themed activities, including going on a stick hunt, making paper plate pig faces and turning home corner into the Three Little Pigs’ houses. They must have been built very well as the houses stayed up for some time!

Mmm porridge! Babies enjoy Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Babies and toddlers learn about Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Your little one may already be familiar with the story of porridge gobbling Goldilocks. As well as stimulating young imaginations, this is a great tale for developing early ideas about what constitutes positive behaviour i.e. not eating other people’s porridge!

Home Corner has been transformed into the three bears’ cottage – complete with porridge bowls – so the children can act out the story, and this week the children have been busy creating a fantastic Goldilocks and the Three Bears display, which you will see in the nursery’s main room. Lots more Goldilocks-themed activities will take place in the coming weeks, including making clay bears and goldilocks and bear masks. There’ll also be lots of opportunities for the children to decide what they want to do, from free art to sensory play.
