48-hour Illness Rule

This time of year, we are aware that there are lots of flu and tummy bugs going around. As an Ofsted-registered nursery and Early Years provider, we follow strict guidelines relating to illness provided to us by the Department of Health.

For sickness and diarrhoea, our policy is that children must be kept away from nursery for 48-hours after the last episode, to prevent the infection from spreading to other children in the nursery.
If you have any questions about how long to keep your child at home, please do not hesitate to call us on 01753 855543.

Children’s Toys

Please can we remind you that if your children bring toys to the nursery, we cannot be responsible for looking after them or ensuring that they are returned.

Fee Payment Reminder

A polite reminder to please pay fees on time. Fees are due on the 15th of each month. If you have any issues relating to payment, please speak to Nikita our Nursery Manager as soon as possible.

Autumn/Winter Clothing

With the mornings and early evenings getting chillier, please make sure your child/children have suitable warm outdoor clothing and a pair of wellies (warm socks are also handy) when they come to nursery. Please remember to ensure that everything is labelled clearly.

Please note that our babies need to bring in suitable footwear too for their garden exploits and other outdoor trips!

Sunny Weather

Sun Cream and Clothing reminder – If you haven’t filled in the consent form allowing us to apply sun cream (and you wish us to do so) please complete and return it to us as soon as possible. With the warm weather spell continuing please ensure that children have appropriate light clothing, such as shorts, sunhat and sandals (fully labelled). No crocs or flip flops please, due to the risk of trips and falls.

Holidays

Please let us know of any holidays that you have planned as it assists with staff annual leave planning during the busy summer months. In turn, this helps us to ensure that we maintain a strong staff to children ratio.

In addition, we do ask that you let us know your child’s last day at nursery (in writing) before starting school. The terms of our notice policy are set out below:

Withdrawal: I agree to provide ONE CALENDAR MONTH’S NOTICE (i.e. 1st to 31st of the following month) to leave or to pay the fees in lieu thereof. (Please note that no exceptions will be made. Notice of withdrawal or to change hours, must be received by the Riverside Day Nursery by the 1st of the month for the calendar month ahead. Notice periods of withdrawal or changes cannot be given mid-month to mid-month).

Data Protection

Data Protection has changed. As you are probably aware, new Data Protection laws came into force at the end of May. To comply, we have issued new registration forms to all parents. Please ensure that if you haven’t already returned the completed form to us that you do so immediately to allow us to continue to communicate with you in writing. Many thanks.

Spare Clothing

Getting messy! Part of the children’s learning experience involves occasionally getting messy at nursery. If you don’t want your child’s clothes to get wet or a little bit messy through art and sensory play, please either send them in to nursery in old clothes that aren’t best or provide them with an old top to wear at these times. We do pop aprons on the children, but they often manage to wriggle out of them!

Development Folders

Child Development Folders You are very welcome to view your child’s development folder at any time or indeed take it home. Please can we remind you that we do need them back within a couple of days so that we can continue to populate them with your child’s ongoing achievements and developments.
