Please take time to read our latest reminders.
1. Childcare Vouchers – If you use childcare voucher companies for any part of your invoice payment, please remember to a) use your child’s name as a reference for the payment and b) check that payments are being released.
If you use electronic childcare vouchers you need to release payment to the nursery every month. Unfortunately, we’re unable to ‘claim’ the payment on your behalf and sometimes parents discover their payments haven’t been released for several months – so do please check.
2. Illnesses – Please be aware that when we need to send your child home unwell it is because they are not well enough to be at nursery. As an Ofsted-registered nursery and Early Years provider, we follow guidelines provided to us by the Department of Health.
As such, for sickness and diarrhea we recommend that children are kept away from nursery for 48-hours after the last episode to prevent the infection from spreading.
Complaints such as conjunctivitis are not excludable but we do ask that you take your little one to the doctor for a prescribed cream, which we are happy to apply. On a similar note, please be aware that we can only give medicine prescribed by a doctor to the children. The medicine should be in its original container and include the label showing the prescription details.
Understandably we are mindful that many of you are working parents. If your child becomes unwell at nursery, we will always do our best to comfort them for as long as we’re able to. However, sometimes despite our efforts, the only remedy is Mummy and Daddy, particularly if they are feeling very poorly.
If you would like any further information regarding our illness policy, please do come and talk to us or email info@theriversidedaynursery.co.uk
3. The Main Door – Please DO NOT allow your child/children to open the main nursery door when you’re all leaving – even if they are tall enough to reach.
We take our safeguarding and security responsibilities very seriously and an essential part of that is ensuring that children do not leave the nursery without their parent/carer. Additionally, we don’t want people we don’t know entering the nursery. We’ve had incidents where children go ahead of parents, open the door and let other children out – albeit ones whose parents are also in nursery.
Please ensure only you open the main door, not your child.
4. Consent of collection – Please ensure we know who is collecting your little one because if we don’t, we won’t allow them to go. If someone other than yourself is collecting your child/children, you need to tell us in-person at drop-off or send us an email providing their name, description and a ‘secret word’ that they will use to confirm their identity. We may also ask you to sign a book outlining these details.
5. Registered Hours – Please can we remind parents and carers to drop off and collect your child /children at, or as close as possible to, the agreed time. As a day nursery, we are required to have a certain number of staff at each session depending on the number of children in our care. If a child arrives far earlier or later than their registered hours, it can impact the staff to child ratio. If you need extra sessions – either before or after your registered hours – we will always try to accommodate, so please come and talk to us beforehand.
If you have any questions about any of the above, please speak to Emma Yarrow or Emma Summersgill.
