June 5th was World Environment Day, a world-wide day dedicated for raising awareness and action to help protect the earth.
To help the children understand more about the environment, we talked about different habitats and how our actions impact them.
For example, we showed the children images of the ocean and talked about how disposable plastic can negatively affect aquatic life.
We also talked about the positive steps we can take to help, from responsibly recycling our waste – the children are encouraged to use the recycling bins at nursery – to helping nature where we can, such as planting trees and plants to support wildlife.
The children listened really well and some told us about how they help the environment at home, including recycling their rubbish and sowing seeds to help the bees. Well done children.
