Welcome from The Riverside Day Nursery

Dear Parents,

It’s been a busy summer term with the children joining in a variety of fun activities, including celebrations fit for a King!

To mark King Charles’s Coronation on 6th May, the children were treated to a vibrant red, white and blue tea party. There was yummy sandwiches and cake, followed by traditional party games like ‘pass the parcel’. The children even had the chance to sit on our nursery’s custom-made golden throne and give a royal wave. Leading up to the coronation, we made glittering crowns to wear for the prestigious occasion. It was a fantastic day, plus the children joined in singing the national anthem beautifully. Well done everyone!

Swanning Around

Now the warm weather is here, we have been venturing to the park to spot the local wildlife. The pre-school and school children (those in their final term before starting primary school) were particularly excited when they saw a swan nesting on the riverbank. From a safe distance, we discreetly watched her progress, from sitting on a clutch of eggs to the arrival of several fluffy cygnets. The swan babies have captured everyone’s hearts, so much so that swan visits are a daily request.

Look – New Loos!

Our vibrant new nursery toilets.

We want the children to have access to the best facilities and have recently installed two modern child-friendly bathrooms. There are two new toilets in the lobby and two in what was originally our laundry room. Easy to access and with low-level toilet pans, they are perfect for helping two to five-year-olds master using the loo independently.

Toilet training is a key part of growing up and when you think your little one is ready, we can work with you to put a personalised plan in place.

In the meantime, here are our top tips for successful potty and toilet training
