We’re the Kings of the Castle!

As part of our Castles theme we’ll be visiting Windsor Castle.

Emma Yarrow, The Riverside Day Nursery’s Manager said: [pb_blockquote] “We went to Windsor Castle last year and really enjoyed seeing the Queen’s house. We thought we saw the Queen looking out of one of the window at one point. The children were thrilled!”  [/pb_blockquote]

The trips to Windsor Castle will be made in smaller groups – please keep an eye out for permission slips which will be distributed in the coming weeks.

To mark the Queen’s 90th birthday we had a street party and made a huge Birthday card from all the children at the Riverside nursery, Windsor.

We’ve also been talking about the different elements of the Queen’s life, including her homes, her family and her royal duties.

Other exciting castle related activities coming up in the next few weeks include:

• Castle DIY – we’re going to decorate our big castle in the pre-school room, including printing bricks and working out how many we need to cover it completely.

• Artwork fit for a Queen – making all things fit for a queen including, crowns, flags (perfect for our street party on the 21st April) and soldiers – just like the ones guarding Windsor Castle!

• Lego Castles – We’ll be building Lego castles and towers and using our bricks to work out how high/tall long/short our castles are.

• Our Favourite Books – we’ll be reading our favourite books, including The Queen’s Hat and The Queen’s Handbag.
