February is here!

Dear Parents,

Welcome to our latest newsletter. We hope that you that your year has got off to a successful start. It was lovely to see a good, if a little disruptive, dusting of snow in January, as you can imagine the children were thrilled!

Here at the Riverside Day Nursery, we are starting the year with a fantastic announcement! Yes, our latest addition, the brand-new Baby room has finally arrived. There are a few final touches to be added but then you and your little ones are welcome to come and see our new facility.

The Baby room is specially designed for babies from three to fifteen-months-old. It is fully equipped with soft snuggly furnishings, colourful cushions, stimulating toys, interactive play mats and a special sensory and messy play area. The tailored furnishings bring a lovely warm and welcoming feel to this baby-friendly space, which also has three cosy cots, custom blackout blinds and soft lighting to ensure our babies are happy.  Along with our highly trained staff who provide a range of creative daily activities, we aim to offer a real ‘home from home’ environment at the nursery. We look forward to showing you round!

A big thank you to Berkshire Flooring for our lovely new baby room floor!

All go December!

Dear Parents,

It was lovely seeing so many of you at the children’s Christmas Concert. I’m sure you will all agree it is a wonderful event to kick start the festive season and see what the children have been working towards in recent weeks.

We hope you are feeling Christmas-ready and excited for the forthcoming festivities? As you can imagine the children are super excited at the prospect of snow flurries and of course, the arrival of Father Christmas!

Alongside our Christmas Concert, we have had numerous Christmas activities going on at the nursery all through December. So far, we have transformed the nursery into a spectacular winter’s scene, complete with cosy fireplace, chimney and stockings. All that is missing now is a dusting of snow! Our cheeky Elf on the Shelf has also been busy getting up to all sorts of mischief. The children in comparison have been angelic of course and we are regularly serenaded with their own unique versions of ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ and ‘We wish you a merry Kissmass’!

Our nursery carol concert, weren’t they brilliant? *wipes tear*

Children in Need

The Children in Need week in mid-November was a fantastic success. It was great to see so many children dressing up to take part. Thank you to everyone who brought in delicious homemade goodies for our cake sale. We raised a magnificent £426 for this wonderful cause, which we hope will make a difference to the lives of children less fortunate than our own, especially at this time of year. The week ended on a slightly slippery note with ‘Gunge Day’! Parents and children voted unanimously for Nikita and Jemma to be slimed (see action shot below). They really enjoyed the experience and are already signed up for next year we hear!

Day Nurseries Reviews

We know it is a very busy time of year so thank you to you all of you that have taken time to submit reviews on the Day Nurseries website. The comments have been extremely positive, and we are immensely proud to announce that we currently have a top rating of 9.9!

To say thank you all reviewers’ names were placed in a hat and one lucky winner was drawn to receive a week’s free childcare. We are pleased to announce the winner was Hudson’s mummy, Stephanie. Runners up, Martha, Amy’s mummy,  and Jacqueline, Joseph’s mummy both received a bottle of wine.

While on the subject of social media, did you can now keep up to date with the nursery’s latest daily news by following our Facebook and Instagram (@riverside_day_nursery) pages? Check us out!

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and happy new year!

October Occasions!

Dear Parents,

So here we are, speeding towards Christmas at a rate of knots! Only seven more weeks until Christmas day is upon us! The children are starting to get very excited about the festivities, chattering about Father Christmas and dreaming of a sprinkling of snow. Before we hang up our stockings, here is what is coming up:

Children in Need Week, starting Monday 12th November

Next week we will be supporting Children in Need by holding an array of different dress up days and activities at the nursery. Monday is a Super Hero theme, Tuesday is PJ Day (onesies welcome of course!), Wednesday will be less dressing up and more ‘eating up’, as we are holding a yummy cake sale in the foyer. If you would like to donate homemade cakes or biscuits to the sale, they would be greatly appreciated. Please bring them along on Wednesday morning and we will try to sell them not eat them! Thursday is Yellow dress up day to keep Pudsey company. Finally, the week culminates on Friday with ‘Gunge Day’. Knowing how much the children love all things gooey and slimy, we are offering them the chance to gunge a member of the Riverside team. On Friday the children will cast their votes and the member of staff with the most votes will receive the gunge treatment. Honestly, we can hardly wait!

On another charity note, we are continuing to raise money for the Thames Hospice. To support this amazing charity there is a donation box in the nursery office if you have any spare change.

‘Stay and Play’ starting January 2019

Exciting news! In January we are launching our new parent ‘stay and play’ sessions. These sessions are a fantastic way to see what your little one gets up to every day and what they enjoy in the nursery environment. Sessions will take place on a specific day of the week on a monthly basis to give as many of you as possible the chance to sign up and join in. In January the ‘stay and play’ sessions will take place on a Tuesday, lasting up to an hour. If you would like to join us, please book a place with Nikita when you are next in.

Wishing you all a cosy November and fun filled run up to Christmas!

September Sunshine!

Dear Parents,

With the crunch of autumn leaves firmly under foot, the children have been extremely busy saying goodbye to summer and making the most of the last warm and sunny days. We have really enjoyed taking the babies and our intrepid pre-schoolers to feed the ducks in Alexandra Gardens. Every visit offers up new sights and sounds to stimulate their imaginations and drive their creative activities.

You may be aware that some of the Riverside team were out and about last month too! Staff took part in the Bubble Rush to raise money for Thames Hospice, and what a fantastic effort they put in. So far, we’ve raised £321 of the £1k target we set, many thanks again to all those who sponsored us. It’s still not too late to donate – you can see more details on our funding page:

There is also a donation box in the nursery office for any spare pennies. Every little helps!

With October half-term and Halloween on the horizon, we’ve put together some spooky things for you and your little ones to enjoy in and around Windsor here.

Wishing you all a cosy, warm October – let’s hope this last bit of sunshine lasts!

August Antics!

Dear Parents,

We hope you have been enjoying the summer so far? We have been making the most of the recent glorious sunshine, spending time in the nursery garden and taking the children on trips to Windsor and nearby Alexandra Gardens to feed the ducks.

Our new School Readiness programme proved to be a tremendous success. The six-week project designed to prepare our pre-school children for their transition to primary school, exceeded all expectations and equipped the children beautifully for their next exciting adventure in life. It was lovely to see so many of you at our preschoolers’ Graduation Ceremony recently. We are sure you’ll agree the children have progressed amazingly and seeing them ready to move on, well there was barely a dry eye in the house! Good luck to all our children who start school in September, we are certainly going to miss you.

Next month the Riverside Day Nursery staff are taking part in a bubble rush run to raise money for Thames Hospice. This is a local charity close to many of our hearts and it would be wonderful if you could support us – you can sponsor us on our funding page.

There is also a donation box in the office. Your contributions are greatly welcomed for this worthwhile cause. Many thanks.

Wishing you all a sunny, happy summer holiday!
