What we’ve been up to!
Here are some of the activities our children have enjoyed in November and early December.
Pre-schoolers enjoy pizza making and Silly Science
Our talented pre-schoolers have been involved with some fantastic Christmas arts and crafts this month. We won’t ruin the surprise but did someone mention glitter?! Even more exciting our little ‘Bake Off’ stars have been cooking up jam tarts and some very delicious pizzas – honestly, they have been tasty enough to start a delivery service! For Jolly Phonics we have been exploring ‘D’ and ‘R’ sounds. The children have taken great pleasure bringing in items from home for ‘Show and Tell’ to reflect the sounds they are learning – there were quite a few Rudolf the Reindeer at our last session. In Silly Science we have been experimenting with objects that float or sink, as well as learning all about how our lungs work.
Toddlers explore the word ‘Go’ and get Christmas Crafting
As well as making lots of pretty Christmas paintings and decorations, our curious toddlers have been looking at, and talking about things that ‘go’. It has been amazing to see the raft of ideas this has developed with the children talking about everything from cars that ‘go’ to ‘going’ to birthday parties. We have also been making great use of our fingers and thumbs playing the Lego bricks matching game, string painting and playing musical instruments. All this active learning means the Toddlers work up quite an appetite, one day they even helped make jam sandwiches for tea for everyone to enjoy!
Babies enjoy super sensory play and Christmas painting
In our super sensory sessions our babies have been busy exploring treasure baskets full of different wood and metal objects, from textured and smooth items, to solid and jingly items. We have also been singing and performing actions along to their favourite nursery rhymes. During messy fingers the babies have produced some very special Christmas themed art work, which you can see displayed around the nursery and can take home at Christmas. To help encourage babbling and those all-important first words the babies have also been enjoying fun wet messy play sessions. As you can imagine it has been giggles and bubbles galore!
